Employee Spotlight: Travis Carr

Travis Carr is our Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician for the city, meaning he creates and updates the maps used across all departments. As the city began implementing a brand new website late last year, Travis has been instrumental in creating new digital maps. Moving to new web mapping services required a lot of time, research, and coordination with our IT provider as well as with ESRI, the GIS software that we use. In addition to the digital maps that the community has access to, Travis keeps multiple internal maps updated so city staff have accurate information about what’s under and above ground around town. Without accurate GIS, staff from all departments wouldn’t be able to quickly and confidently repair infrastructure.
