Letter from the Mayor: February 2025
February 11, 2025
Dear Nixa Residents,
Whether Valentine’s Day stems from the Roman festival of Lupercalia, nature’s mating season, Saint Valentine’s devotion, or modern celebrations (Hallmark), one thing is certain – there’s much to love about Nixa, especially as we transition from winter to spring. As your mayor, I’m excited to share updates on several important capital improvement projects approved in our fiscal year 2025 budget.
Our Public Works department is undertaking crucial infrastructure projects to support Nixa’s growth, including water, sewer, and electric system upgrades. Safety improvements are also coming to Highway 14 with new lighting installations to protect both motorists and pedestrians. Additionally, the final phases of the Cherry Street stormwater project will help resolve flooding concerns in that area.
Thanks to voter approval last April, the Nixa Police Department will soon break ground on their new station. This facility will provide much-needed space for evidence storage, equipment, training, and offices, while improving service delivery to our citizens.
For our families and youth, Nixa Parks and Recreation is completing an exciting new splash pad that will open this year. The department is also making various park improvements and finalizing designs for a Nixa Skate Park!
At City Hall, we’re beginning a remodel to better serve our community. By relocating Nixa Utility Billing to City Hall, we’re creating a one-stop location for city services, making it more convenient for residents to conduct their business efficiently.
These improvements reflect the valuable feedback we’ve received from our community. I’m grateful for your input and look forward to seeing these projects completed. As your mayor, I remain committed to working hard and representing all Nixa citizens.
God bless Nixa, and God bless the United States of America.
Sincerely,
Mayor Jarad Giddens
