The men and women employed by the Nixa Police Department are honored to serve our residents, business owners, and visitors. We are committed to providing the highest level of service to the community we serve. Our department believes in the philosophy of community policing and is committed to strengthening the bonds of cooperation and support with the citizens that we have sworn to protect.

Our Purpose
The Nixa Police Department exists to provide the community with the highest quality of law enforcement services, protecting and serving with honor and integrity.
Our Mission Statement
The Nixa police department exists to enforce the laws of the of the United States of America, the State of Missouri and the City of Nixa. We will investigate crime and apprehend offenders. The Nixa Police Department will proactively work to prevent crime, maintain peace and serve the needs of our community.
Our Vision
The Nixa Police Department will endeavor to be leaders in public service. Our commitment to excellence will be the driving force in all we do. Through our efforts, we will serve our community by providing the best possible law enforcement service to the community.

Organization
The Nixa Police Department is comprised of 49 members. The department is divided by function into a quasi-military structure in order to clearly define the “chain of command,” establish a span of control, and to clarify the delegation of authority.
The department is directed by the Chief of Police, and its functions are grouped into Bureaus, Divisions, Sections, Units, or other components. The chain of command under each Bureau is specified in the organizational chart shown, which also designates levels of command.
Executive Command Staff
The Command Staff is responsible for the oversight of daily operations, budget management, professional accountability and creating, adopting and ensuring adherence to policies, guidelines and proper procedures.
Staff continuously strives to meet the strategic goals and expectations of the City Administration and City Council while providing guidance and support to all Nixa Police Department personnel.
Operations Bureau
The Operations Bureau is commanded by a Police Captain who reports to the Police Department’s Major.
The primary objective of the Operations Bureau is to provide a safe, secure environment for all citizens in the community through community-oriented policing.
The Operations Bureau serves the community by:
- Protecting life and property
- Promoting peace and order
- Preventing and detecting crime
- Preserving the safe use of the streets and highways
- Enforcing all federal, state, and local laws
In addition to preventive patrol and answering calls for service, officers are encouraged to spend time meeting, helping, and serving the public.
Support Bureau
The Support Bureau is commanded by a Police Captain who reports to the Police Department’s Major.
The Support Bureau provides supervision, management, technical and logistical support to multiple Department-wide sections necessary to support and enable effective policing operations. These Units and services include:

- Background Investigations
- Support Services Division
