Boards & Commissions
In addition to the City Council, the City of Nixa has other public boards & commissions which serve specific purposes, in addition to any special committees which may be formed by the City Council.
Planning & Zoning Commission:
The Planning and Zoning Commission serves as a recommendation body to the City Council on matters relating to development activity in the City.
Home Rule Charter Review Commission:
The Home Rule Charter Review Commission serves as a recommendation body to the City Council regarding potential amendments to the city’s charter which the Commission deems advantageous.
Board of Adjustments:
The Board of Adjustments hears and decides variance cases and appeals to decisions made by the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Filling Vacancies:
From time to time, these boards, commissions, and committees have vacancies that need to be filled by volunteers, who will be appointed by the Mayor and/or Council.

Occasionally the City of Nixa has openings on any of its boards, commissions, or committees. All such roles are voluntary and some come with particular requirements such as an even distribution of members across the city’s three council districts. In order to be considered to fill any such vacancies, please complete the following form. Upon submission, your name will be added to a list of potential candidates to be considered for voluntary public service on whichever board, commission, or committee may have a vacancy.
