July 22, 2024
The City of Nixa is announcing the hiring of Summer Rascoll-Jones as the new Director of Communications. Rascoll-Jones will begin her role with Nixa on August 5th.
She will be tasked with leading Nixa’s Communications Department through public information, media relations, community engagement, and marketing.
A New Orleans native, Rascoll-Jones has been in the Ozarks off and on since 2009. Her family moved as Hurricane Katrina refugees, which sparked her passion for crisis communication and city government. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in broadcast journalism and political science from Missouri State University in 2012. After five years in television news as a reporter and news anchor, she earned her Master’s Degree in communications from Drury University in 2019.
She has since worked in healthcare, supporting teams through training and development, recruitment, internal communications, and marketing. She has also taught public speaking at Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield.
“We are excited to welcome Summer to our team as our new Communication’s Director. She brings a wealth of experience in public relations and community engagement, which will be instrumental in continuing to enhance our communication efforts with residents, businesses, and stakeholders,” said Nixa City Administrator Jimmy Liles.
Outside of work, Rascoll-Jones is passionate about mental health advocacy and enjoying the Ozarks with her family. She’s been a Nixa resident since 2020 and is looking forward to serving her community.
