Letter from the Mayor: September 2024

August 30, 2024

As we move into the fall season, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This time of year is special to many of us, not only because of the cooler weather and changing leaves but also because of the numerous events that bring our community together. The festivities around “Friday Night Lights” are amazing. It doesn’t matter if you are there to watch the marching band, cheerleaders, dance team, student section, or the football team you will always feel a great sense of community. It’s not just Friday nights that bring joy and excitement to our community. Fall is also the time for swimming & diving, soccer, volleyball, tennis, softball, golf, and cross country. The talent in our city continues to amaze me.

One of the highlights this September is the 3rd Annual Multicultural Festival. This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the many cultures that make our community so unique. It’s a chance to learn about different cultures, enjoy amazing food, and experience the traditions that our neighbors bring to Nixa. I hope to see many of you there, enjoying the festivities and celebrating what makes our city so special.

As we enjoy these events, City staff, the City Council, and I are also focused on an important task: working on the budget for the upcoming year. Over the next three months, we will be prioritizing projects and spending while continuing to find ways to save funds to build up our reserves. This process is crucial to ensuring that Nixa remains a great place to live, work, and play.

Your input is vital during this time. I encourage you to stay in contact with your elected officials and share your thoughts and feedback. Your voices help guide us in making decisions that reflect the needs and desires of our community.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making Nixa a wonderful place to call home.

Sincerely,

Mayor Jarad Giddens
