Nixa Seeks Citizen Input for Planning Process

The City of Nixa is launching Nixa 2045, a process for planning our growth for the next 20 years and beyond! This new comprehensive plan process will be used to guide decision-making, development, and infrastructure projects across the community. The Nixa 2045 plan will serve as a road map to visualize where we want to go as a City, and the path to reach that destination. The focus of the plan will be a strong emphasis on land use, transportation, education, parks and trails, development patterns, housing types, infrastructure, and economic development. Public input will be essential to shaping this plan for Nixa’s vibrant future!
The Comprehensive Plan process will include extensive community outreach opportunities which will include a community online survey, pop-up events, a visioning workshop, a citywide planning charrette and virtual public open houses. (A planning charette is a multi-day community engagement event where stakeholders and decision makers work alongside experts to co-develop solutions to built environment problems using design.)
We invite everyone to learn more about this project.. The project website includes information about the comprehensive planning process and ongoing community engagement opportunities. A direct mail piece will also be sent to Nixa residents announcing the planning process and how to get involved. Those interested in serving on the Community Stakeholder Committee may apply now. Applications must be submitted by end of day December 22nd, 2023.
The public survey is also available now at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Nixa2045PublicSurvey. We invite everyone in the community to share their priorities for Nixa’s future. It will be available until February 2, 2024. Your input is vital to a successful project!

“To create a successful plan, listening to the community will be paramount. Hearing the public’s voice on these development issues will help build consensus on what future growth should look like while preserving Nixa’s history, character, culture, and heritage,” says Scott Godbey, director of planning & development for the City of Nixa. The goal is to finalize the Nixa 2045 Comprehensive Plan by late Summer 2024.
