Nixa Utilities Updates a Few Charges and Procedures
July 6, 2022
On June 27, 2022, Nixa City Council voted to update Nixa Utilities water charges and billing procedures. The changes impact residential deposit amounts, utility bill due dates, late fees, disconnect fees, and payment plans.
Please review the information below, and contact the Nixa Utility Billing office at 417-725-3229 with any questions.
Residential Deposits
Water – Inside City – $50
Water – Outside City – $75
Electric – Homeowner – $100
Electric – Tenant $250
Due Dates
If your bills were normally due at the beginning of the month, they are now due on the 5th. If the 5th is a weekend or holiday, the due date will be the following business day.
If your bills were normally due in the middle of the month, they are now due on the 20th. If the 20th is a weekend or holiday, the due date will be the following business day.
Late Fee
Late fee is now 10%. Bills are due by 5pm on the due date. This is not dependent on your payment method.
Disconnect Fee
A $50 flat-fee will show up on your bill as a service charge. The $50 will be charged if you are ten days past due and still carry an unpaid balance over $50.00. We no longer require you to pay an additional deposit to be reconnected; however, you will be responsible for your past due balance in addition to the $50 service charge.
*Same language as “Late Fee,” where bills not paid by 5pm on the due date of their late notice will be assessed the $50 service charge.
Payment Plans
We will now be offering a 3-month payment plan to those who are struggling to pay utility bills. This will take your entire past-due balance and spread it out over three months in addition to your current bills to help catch up. If you miss an installment, your past-due balance is then due immediately or you are subject to disconnection.
