Project Documents
The Nixa Parks & Recreation department has completed repairs and improved the pool at the Nixa Aquatics Center. In the fall of 2023, the City of Nixa hired a pool engineering company to work with staff to develop the plans necessary to replace all the underground re-circulating water piping for the pool. The replacement of these underground pipes will ensure the pool sees many more years of service for the community. Along with the pipe replacement, city council also approved several upgrades and other renovations.
These renovations include:
- The replacement of all recirculation piping above and below ground
- Improvements to the filtration system. This will revitalize the filters and replace all filter media and piping to ensure the filters are ready for another 20+ years of service
- Additional concrete pool decking which will provide more patron space at the pool
- Additional shade structures
- A water play structure in the newly created wet deck space within the zero-depth area of the pool

- Saturday: 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Admission fees for Open Swim:
- $5 for Nixa Residents
- $6 for Non-Residents

Opening Day!
The pool is now open!
We are thrilled to announce that the Nixa Aquatics Center is now officially open as of Monday, June 10th. After completing extensive repairs to fix the pool’s leak, we are ready to welcome our community back for a fantastic summer.
A huge ‘thank you’ to our community for your patience and support during this intensive repair process. We also want to give a special shout-out to Branco for leading the construction work and to our Parks Department staff who have worked diligently to prepare the pool for this season and train our team.
Pool season passes and punch passes can be purchased at The X Center.

Pool Update
The pool is very close to completion! This week crews began pouring concrete for the pool deck — including the expanded pool deck spaces. The pool deck has expanded to provide more sitting areas and will also provide more shade as three new shade structures will be added to the pool deck. The in-pool play structure is installed and plumbed. This play structure will be on the newly elevated wet deck and will be an awesome play area for the kids. Crews have a couple more concrete pours to do and then the pool deck will be completed. Park staff also put water in the pool this week and cleaned out the pool lines. Things went exactly as they should, and it was nice to see water in the pool again. This achievement paves the way for the pool basin to be cleaned and prepared for filling with water and we hope to begin filling the pool the first part of next week. We just need a few more dry days to complete the concrete work and finish the final lifeguard training necessary at our pool to complete their certifications. Stay tuned, the official opening day will be announced very soon. We are almost there!

Pool Update
There has been lots of construction activity on the pool this week. The plumbing is complete, backfill is nearly complete, the new raised area in the pool has been painted, filters have new media, and the new play structure for the pool has arrived. There will be a lot of activity as we prepare for the pouring of the new concrete pool deck that will begin next week. We are certainly grateful for the days with no rain and could use just a few more clear days to complete this project on target! We are still on pace for opening in the first week in June. Staff is preparing the pool areas that are not currently under construction for opening. New lawn chairs are being assembled, final trainings are taking place, and we are excited to open as soon as we get the all-clear and have the pool full and ready to go!

Pool Update
Progress on the recirculating piping is nearing completion. The new lines are currently undergoing pressure testing, with all lines tested so far passing successfully. This is excellent news and paves the way for the conclusion of the plumbing phase of the project. Next, the concrete deck work and painting will begin. Additionally, the water play structure for the new elevated section within the pool has been shipped and is scheduled to arrive next week for installation. The pool project remails on track for opening during the first week of June. Recent rainy days have been a concern, so a few dry days would greatly help the crews to finalize the project.

Pool Update
Progress continues to move forward as expected! The concrete forms were removed from the section within the pool that was poured last week. The plumbing crew continues their work of trenching around the pool to replace the recirculation piping and is on track. Crews continue to work within the filters to prepare them for new media that will ensure the water is filtered and crystal clear for the upcoming season. The mess around the pool is a good sign of the great progress that is being made to update and renovate the pool for the upcoming season. We are still on track for opening during the first week of June. We hope to be able to get to an exact date in the coming weeks as work gets a little closer to completion. The staff have nearly filled all part-time positions, so if you know anyone looking to be a lifeguard or teach swimming lessons, there is no time like the present to apply before all positions are full. It’s almost pool season and we are excited!

Pool Update
The construction crews continue to make great progress on the pool! Concrete was poured to create the section within the pool area that will be the new site for the in pool play structure, and the recirculating pipes for the zero-depth area. This concrete pour is significant to the time schedule for the pool opening as this concrete will be submerged in water during the pool season, thus the concrete has a significantly large cure time before the pool can be filled. Crews continue to work on recirculating piping under the pool deck and have started removing the pool decking to gain access to this piping. The project remains on target and on time, which is excellent as we are all beginning to prepare for summer. Staff continue to make all the necessary plans and preparations for opening the pool, staff training is scheduled, hiring has begun, and program registration is open. We are still in need of lifeguards for the summer, if interested, or you know someone who is interested, please send them our way! We look forward to summer and will continue to update pool construction progress weekly.

Shallow Water Area Concrete Pour
On Wednesday, April 24th, crews completed the pour of concrete for the Shallow Water area that will house the play structure. Once the concrete has cured, it will be painted.

Forming & Concrete Work
The Nixa Aquatics Center construction is underway, and the pool is set to open the first week in June. Currently crews are working on the area within the pool that will be elevated for piping and the new in-pool play structure, digging out the old pool deck and piping to make way for the new pipes, and the rehabilitation of the pool filters. Things are messy, however progressing as expected. It’s exciting to see the progress of this project!
Crews have formed up the elevated area and are working to pour the concrete in that area this week. This area will house the shallow water play structure shown below.

Repairs Started
Nixa Parks and Recreation continues to work to get the pool repaired and ready for the upcoming pool season. Contractors began the onsite work today and have ordered the necessary materials needed for the project, which is very exciting! It is great seeing the work begin as we prepare for summer!
‌At this time, we would like to provide an updated timeline for the project. With the work started we anticipate the ability to open the pool sometime the first week of June. This work includes the replacement of all underground recirculation piping within the pool area, addition of concrete pool deck space with more shade structures, the installation of a water play structure, and rehabilitation of the pipes and filters within the pumphouse. We are excited for this work to begin and look forward to the renovations and upgrades to get the pool open once again and for many years to come.
Currently staff continues working to prepare for the upcoming pool season. The hiring of Lifeguards, Admission staff, and Swim Instructors is currently underway. Be on the lookout for information on aquatic programs including swim lessons, swim team, Jr. Lifeguards, season pass sales, and more. We are excited and look forward to seeing our community back in the pool this summer, and we hope you are excited about the renovations and additions at the pool!
